Journal Owners
Suhuf: Journal of Qur’anic Studies and Culture, the official academic journal of the Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf Al-Qur’an (LPMQ), is owned by the Agency for Religious Moderation and Human Resources Development, Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The journal’s primary objective is to promote and advance Qur’anic studies and to serve as a platform for scholarly dialogue among researchers, academics, students, and practitioners, both in Indonesia and internationally.
The journal covers a wide range of topics related to Qur’anic studies and cultural issues. While the Agency for Religious Moderation and Human Resources Development provides institutional support, the editor-in-chief carries out editorial duties with full scholarly independence, free from external pressure or interference in the journal’s content and management. Nevertheless, the editor-in-chief remains accountable to the journal’s owner and the editorial board.
The responsibilities of the journal’s owner are guided by the standards of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). The owner is responsible for appointing and dismissing editors and for providing contracts that clearly define their rights, duties, authority, terms of appointment, and mechanisms for conflict resolution. Editorial performance is evaluated based on mutually agreed criteria, including manuscript submission and processing timelines, as well as various journal performance indicators. Official appointments are formalized through a decree issued by the head of the institution.
The dismissal of editors must be based on substantial and justifiable grounds, such as violations of ethical standards or scientific integrity, misalignment with the journal’s long-term editorial vision, unsatisfactory performance according to agreed indicators, or conduct inconsistent with the standards and dignity of the position.
